Kermit And Miss Piggy Respond To Fox News' 'Communism' Allegations (VIDEO)

Huffington Post UK   Alastair Plumb First Posted: 30/01/2012 13:11 Updated: 30/01/2012 13:15

Back in December last year, the Fox Business Network over in the US accused The Muppets of being communist. Needless to say, this bizarre allegation was picked up everywhere, with the Murdoch-owned right-wing media conglomerate looking a right fool.

After all, who accuses a group of much-loved stuffed puppets - sorry, Muppets - of harbouring an "anti-corporate message" and "left-wing sympathies"? Well, Fox do. Of course.

"It's amazing how far the left will go just to manipulate your kids, to convince them, give the anti-corporate message," said Follow The Money host Eric Bolling, after learning that the antagonist in their latest film, The Muppets, was a money-hungry oil baron called Tex Richman.

But despite all the furore, it's taken a couple of months for the Muppets to give their own thoughts on the matter - with a press conference in London proving the perfect place for Miss Piggy and Kermit to show Fox who's boss.

We won't spoil their quips, but trust us when we say that they're brilliant. Not brilliant in a look-at-them-they're-adorable way... brilliant in a genuinely brilliant way.

Take a look at the video above to see what we mean, then check out the original moment on Fox below to see how it all started.

"Brainwashing"? Really?

It's a free country, and anybody can make any movie they want. Why are these people complaining?

There is a reason that anti-corporate movies get made--it's because people go to see them. Those are the stories that resonate with people.

If it were possible to make a movie where the Big Corporation were the good guys and anyone would go see it, we would be awash in them.

Don't corporations have advertising budgets? Can't they do their own PR? Oh, wait, they do, and try, but virtually always fail because they get caught lying. They are their own worst enemy.

Do you understand how stupid it is to be afraid?

And the moral of this story is: Never try to tell a professional how to do his job.

The Muppets have been making people laugh for decades; unlike Eric and Billo and the other furry woodland creatures of Fakes News, who are utter amateurs. Any laughs they get are purely accidental. They probably don't even realize yet how badly they got zinged.

Clearly, Sesame Street is a Left-Wing Propaganda vehicle!

After all, do they not encourage their viewers to "share"?

What is "sharing" if not communism?

Bloody Liberal Pigs and Frogs....

The whole thing is kind of a parody of the McCarthy era inquiries. I wonder if Bolling realizes it?

So the Muppets are the voice of reason, and the Corporations are in fear, what else is new ?
It's so funny, yeah, there is no class warfare, it's a myth, move along, nothing to see here....

Do the Corporations actually think the people don't know any better ?

Indoctrination and brainwashing of children by liberals? Mother Earth is surely smiling with this news, and for very good reason! Children, who are the earth's future stewards, need a fair and balanced view of the world if the unfortunate state of affairs you see now can ever hope to improve.

Miss Piggy should run for Oval Office and have Kermit as her running mate. They'd likely prove more electable, without the use of ridiculous SuperPacs!

I often wonder how on earth rightwingconservatives raise their children...since the concept of sharing with someone (that didn't "earn" it or whatever) seems to be anthema to them.

You know, when you have three or four kids...and the one gets something like a bag of goodies...and mom and dad say..."you must share with your brother and sister...cause it's "nice". And the kid is saying, "but why? they didn't get it, I did!"
"Doesn't matter; you should still share...it's the xtian thing to do. The brotherly-sisterly thing to do."

That NEVER seems to translate to their adult lives. So...my suspicion is, that they don't actually raise their children that way. They must teach them that you never have to share with ANYone, not even your family, if you don't want to. As long as it's yours...you can keep it ALL to yourself, because that's the "right" Randian thing to do.

LastAngryWoman, your post points to the importance of raising children to have a social conscience, be inquisitive about their natural surroundings, be open minded enough to respectfully disagree with opposing opinions, and be willing to roll up their sleeves to promote positive change.

Thanks for the response.
