World's Oldest Living Twins Celebrate 102 Years With 37 Great-Grandchildren!

Great-great grannies Edith Ritchie and Evelyn 'Evie' Middleton have been named the world's oldest living twins at a staggering 102 years old!

The sisters - who have an amazing 37 great-grandchildren between them - were born in Aberdeenshire in 1909, and worked on farms before marrying and starting their own families.

Evie had four children with her husband William Middleton, and now boasts 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, whilst Edith had four children with her spouse Nathaniel Ritchie and now has nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and three-great-great grandchildren!

The women remained close all their lives and now live together in a care home in Ellon, Scotland.

Mrs Ritchie says 'simple living, hard work and a good husband' is the secret to her long and healthly life!

Confirming their title as the world's oldest twins, Craig Glenday, editor in chief of Guinness World Records. said they sisters were a 'remarkable pair'.

"They're not just the oldest in the UK, they hold the world title," he said, "They've clearly benefited from good genes, and a solid life-long friendship that only twins can truly understand."

Mrs Middleton's daughter Eveline Smith - herself a respectable 81 - said: 'My mum and her sister are both very unassuming. They're both doing pretty well considering they're 102. It's a grand age. We're very proud of them. Mum remembers both world wars as if they were yesterday, and she keeps saying she doesn't want to see another one."

What a lovely story - and don't they look marvellous!
