The richest stars on TV last year have been revealed, with This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes, ex-TOWIE star Amy Childs and comedian Harry Hill all making the top ten.

Childs - who managed to pull in an estimated £2.75m after leaving the Essex based reality show and going on to star in Celebrity Big Brother - trades mostly on her appearance, but this is obviously what people were prepared to pay for it. Just to put it in context, this sum is more than 135 times the average starting salary of a UK registered nurse.

Childs may not have saved any lives, but she's brought us lots of entertainment - right? If talking about "vagazzles" is entertainment.

Dermot O'Leary, on the other hand, who did a grand job of reading an auto-cue and filling time when something went wrong on the live X Factor, earned £2m, the same amount as Lorraine Pascale, the model-turned-baker, known mostly for her BBC show Baking Made Easy.

Other TV personalities who took home princely sums for their on-screen duties in 2011 included Top Gear stars James May and Richard Hammond, who were rewarded nicely for driving expensive cars, and May for playing with toys in James May's Toy Stories.

The UK's wealthiest TV star earned an estimated £2.8m, according to OK! magazine's official list. Find out who it was in the slideshow below...

I admit there are one or two popular faces amongst these so-called stars, but there are quite a few that no one would miss if they went on a vacation to oblivion. It makes a mockery of those who work in proper jobs.

BBC should not pay high super-high salaries to any kind of performers, pundits, whatever. Let them go to commercial television. They can all be replaced. But the BBC is a club for trainee national treasures., So, they do not like getting rid of anybody. They would rather put them on the circuit of appearing on one program then another then another until we are sick at the sight of the entire 100 people they use.

This country has many talented people. The BBC should let go all of its expensive stars. All of them.
