A troupe of dwarves and clowns donned Matador outfits to take part in bullfights across South America.

Pint-sized actors Franklin Marcano and Gustavo Murillo performed at La Macarena bullring in Medellin, Antioquia department, Colombia, this weekend.

The pair are part of a larger group who tour South America putting on shows at fairs and patron saint festivals.

Bullfighting dwarves are popular in South America, where the participants admit they tread a fine line between mocked for their size and respected for their skill, USA Today reported.

Calves instead of fully-grown bulls are used in the ring and unlike traditional bullfights, the animals are not harmed.

The times are a changing throughout Colombia as many nationals are firmly against the old traditions of bullfighting in the country.

Are the bulls dwarfed too?

Those who haven't been to a bull fight shouldn't comment on it. There is a lot of ceremony and dignity involved in bull fighting, which goes back centuries in time. After the fight, "if" the bull looses, he is butchered and distributed to the poor. AND sometimes the bull doesn't lose! Every country has their own particular sport which it identifies with. If you think bull fighting is barbaric look at baseball. do you know how many horses are slaughtered each year just for it's hide to cover baseballs? Then they use the rest for dog food, and glue. Now, that's pretty sad!

So do people, that's not the point. The point is, should a 1,500 lb bull have the dignity to be able to fight for it's life, and, possible live? Live, and reproduce little bulls with a gene line that makes them superior in the ring? There is a large economy that surrounds bull fighting. I mean, they do sell tickets that fill the arena, not to mention all the goodies that one see's at a World Series Baseball Game. Hey, The way things are going with our borders, all Obama, or, any candidate has to do to win this election, is promise to legalize Bull Fighting when elected, and he/she will win! Ole`

Try making a baseball not out of horsehide! That will never happen! Do have any idea how many horses are slaughtered each year just for their hide to cover baseballs? And what do they do with the rest of the carcass? They make dog food and glue! What did that poor horse ever do? At least when you compare bull fighting with the slaughter of horses, the bull is allowed to show his dignity and pride, sometimes he even wins! Which allows him to retire to sire more proud bulls for this sport. Think about that the next time you see someone in baseball brag about a "Home Run"!

Exploiting animals for food or sport or fashion must be discouraged, even banned, considering the sheer cruelty and barbarism inflicted on them. Besides, modern animal husbandry has created bird flu, swine flu and other deadly infections. Furs are banned in most countries; the "upper class" ritual of fox hunting is now banned in Britain; the blood-thirsty spectators are denied Bull Fighting in Barcelona. Death penalty for killing sacred cows in India! How about that!

Bullfighting is horrible and cruel no matter if it is done by dwarves or tall men. This seems doubly mean since they are using a baby calf. How can those people watch that and cheer them on?

Hee hee, you silly.. If you read the article, you'd know these bull calves, who are NOT babies but have matured to the "point" of having horns, are not being lanced or picked. The dwarf bullfighters are at more danger than the bull calves!!

Hey visitor - 93% of all abortions in the US are because the pregnancy poses an "inconvenience" to the mother. Only 7% are for medical necessity.
