Olly Murs Given 'Xtra Factor' Ultimatum

After giving Olly Murs the leg-up to pop stardom, Simon Cowell is now asking him to pause his international music career to present Xtra Factor.

The music mogul wants Olly and Caroline Flack to host the ITV2 X Factor spin-off again this year, but has given the Dance With Me Tonight singer an ultimatum - he must choose between music or TV.

The X Factor runner-up has plans to launch his solo album internationally in the summer and is hoping to perform gigs in Europe and the US, but this would overlap with the filming of the audition stage of the show.

The 27-year-old told The Mirror: "I really want to do it but when I asked Simon if I could just do the live shows, he said, 'No, it wouldn't be possible'."

It looks like Caroline Flack couldn't bear to present the show with anyone else. She said: "They asked me if I'd consider presenting with someone else. But... that'd feel just weird - I love Olly!"

Please please Olly stick with presenting. You can't sing. Please.
The only time you tried was on the X-Factor and it was embarassing.

Reminds me of the lady who said to me, "If you design a set for that am. dram. group, you're not coming into my house again!"
I hadn't actually intended to do the job ... but I am now!!!

The X Factor doesn't take up the whole year so Olly should be able to do both. Simon Cowell isn't being fair by asking him to choose.
Olly is so likeable and I hope he is successful with his music career as well as tv presening.

Incidentally, why do I have so much trouble reading stories from The Huffington Bloody Post??
It keeps bringing up a google page!

This is the crucial bit of the story to read:

Ollie is hoping to perform gigs in Europe and the US, but this would overlap with the filming of the audition stage of the show.

That's a shame and it's unfair that he should have to choose.

I just wish him the very best

I think its cruel and selfish , of anyone to put some one in this situation .He did go on X Factor to become a singer , so its should be whats in your heart ,what you want to do .Dont let anyone tell you what to do , just for their selfishness .I am not really a fan of his , but doesnt matter who they are , this is a form of bullying Olly just do whats in your heart !!!!

He is crap at both.

Let Olly just do the live shows.

That's a pity. You can see how much the public love him with the Xtra Factor phone-ins. I think he's done so well in both his singing career and presenting. Olly and Caroline are a great presenting team. He's not my cup of tea, but he does a great job. Unfortunately, neither career path seems to be a lasting one.

Will Olly be joining the Essex school children who are going through classroom disciplines to learn to speak properly ?. His diction is ok on his recordings,...but his pronounciation,( like most of these young presenters }, is crapola when he toawks. Which way should he go ?. Well,I don't think he'll have any longevity in either of these genres,..so go with the one you enjoy doing best. Good luck to you, anyway.

Hmm, people and glasshouses - if you are going to criticise someone’s use of the English language, you really should make sure that you know how to write it with correct punctuation.

Many thanks for your correction to my punctuation.
It appears to me that you too, are throwing stones from within the confines of your "glass house". Check out the opening sentence of your critique to me.This requires a full stop. The following sentence, therefor, requires a capital letter "I".
