Gemma McCluskie Killed: Tony McCluskie Charged With Murder

Brother Charged With Gemma McCluskie's Murder

The brother of actress Gemma McCluskie, whose headless torso was found in an East London canal, has been charged with her murder.

Gemma McCluskie's limbless torso was discovered floating close to Hackney's Broadway Market after she attended a high-profile hospital opening ceremony in east London last Thursday.

Her 35-year-old brother Tony was formally charged by police tonight as divers continued their searches for Miss McCluskie's remaining body parts.

He will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court on Monday, Scotland Yard said.

McCluskie was last seen on Thursday 1 March, when she attended the opening of the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

McCluskie, 29, was carrying a Louis Vuitton bag and wearing a yellow long-sleeved top, with a round neck and navy-blue leggings.

Detective Superintendent Fiona Mallon, of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said it was important to piece together her last movements: "It is important that we piece together Gemma's movements from Wednesday 29 February until the discovery in Regent's Canal in Hackney on Tuesday 6 March.

"We also urge anyone with any significant information about this case to contact us as soon as possible. In particular we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around her home address in Pelter Street in Bethnal Green."

Anyone who can assist should call the Incident Room on 020 8345 3985; if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
