Madonna Drug Controversy Reignited

Madonna's drugs comment controversy refuses to fade away - Electronic DJ Paul Van Dyk has branded her remarks "the biggest mistake of her career".

The furore all started after the singer made a surprise appearance at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida last weekend. She addressed the crowd using the word 'molly' - a slang term for MDMA, the chemical name for ecstasy.

Producer Deadmau5 was quick to criticise the pop star for her comments, tweeting: "Very classy there Madonna... Such a great message for the young music lovers at Ultra. Quite the f'n (f**cking) philanthropist. But hey, at least yer (you're) hip and trendy! F**king can't smack my head hard enough right now."

Madonna attempted to clarify the remarks, writing on Twitter: "I don't support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called 'Have You Seen Molly' written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my last album..."

But now Paul has fuelled the incident further, telling Billboard.com: "I don't think she was thinking much. The only thing she was probably thinking was, 'I need to connect with a young crowd,' and she made the biggest mistake of her career. Madonna was so stupid to actually call out drug abuse in front of a crowd of 18 year olds. This is not what our music is about. It's really counterproductive."

who cares... she is still making millions... we all know that Madonna has always used her self expression to promote herself...

Yeah...and in the days since Madonna made her comment, what? Has maybe one person died from MDMA related use, and about 15,000 from alcohol? "Don't encourage drug use!!....hey let's get drunk instead."

LEAVE MADONNA ALONE Y'ALL!!! Right now I'm sitting in front of a white sheet backdrop, wearing heavy eye-makeup and weeping hysterically.....

I've always liked that Paul Van Dyk has been anti-drugs. I never took any pills when I went clubbing and enjoyed PVD's sets rather than getting off my face.

People should leave Madonna alone, she is not advicating drug use, if someone would take drugs just because Madonna named her latest album a certain name they must be very mentally challenged. People should " slam " musicians ( if I can call them that ) like Rihanna for not using proper English, no wonder children are leaving school unable to read and write when stupid people like Rihanna use titles for their songs such as : " U DA 1 " not " YOUR THE ONE " why is it acceptable ????

I hate to pick holes, but it would actually be "you're the one", not "your"... I have made the same mistake tons of times so I'm not having a go :)

Thankyou, I remember now, it is " you are ".. push the words together, take out the " a " and put in a comma ( or whatever it is called ). Thankyou for reminding me. It must be hard for children to learn today, I remember learning by seeing words and remembering how they were spelt. No offence was taken. :-)

Oh please, get over it! This is Madonna we're talking about- she's upset the Catholic church (on many occasions), done a sex book amongst other things. So does anyone seriously think mentioning (possibly) something about drugs is gonna ruin her 30+ careers? I don't think so!!!

If anything I'm a little disappointed that she's trying to be shocking by talking about ecstasy. Which, as we all know, is less dangerous than riding a horse.

Possibly, I just think a rather flippant remark getting all this attention is pointless, hasn't she done worse things than this before? And the whole drug thing, well I have to claim ignorance on that, I don't know much about them.

Compare and contrast: "I don't support drug use and I never have" versus calling your album MDNA and using slang terms for ecstasy like it's 1999.
