Julian Assange's "world-shifting" new chat show will begin on 17 April, WikiLeaks announced on Friday.

The World Tomorrow, the WikiLeaks founder's first foray into TV stardom, will air on Kremlin-founded TV station Russia Today and online.

According to the press release, the show will feature "an eclectic range of guests who are stamping their mark on the future."

The man himself, who is currently fighting extradition to Sweden over sexual assault allegations, claims the show will aim “to capture and present some of this revolutionary spirit to a global audience. My own work with WikiLeaks hasn't exactly made my life easier”, he said in a statement, “but it has given us a platform to broadcast world-shifting ideas.”

In the official trailer for the series, Assange says: "For 500 days now I've been detained without charge. But that hasn't stopped us.

"Today, we're on a quest for revolutionary ideas that can change the world tomorrow."

The names of the guests have not yet been disclosed but Russia Today said they would include 10 "key political players, thinkers and revolutionaries — figures who in the author's opinion will be shaping the political agenda of tomorrow."

Russia Today's editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan said in a statement: "We're proud to host Julian Assange's new project.. RT has rallied a global audience of open-minded people who don't take things around them for granted."

Music star MIA has composed the music for the first episode.

This is all good and well and great luck to him but it is in the public's interest for him to reveal what is in his Murdoch "insurance" files.

"There are 504 US embassy cables on one broadcasting organisation and there are cables on Murdoch and News Corp."

Does any one else see the absurdity of a TV show hosted by a man that is all for freedom of information, being produced by the Kremlin founded TV station? Hmm
