Chris Brown has apologised for his act

A teenage football fan has spoken of his regret after he was reported to police for leaking images of Norwich City's new home kit on the internet.

Seventeen-year-old IT student Chris Brown was contacted by Norfolk Police after he published pictures of the 2012/13 strip on Twitter and online forums hours before the official launch.

The teenager, a Norwich City fan, said he was "very apologetic" for obtaining the images from the Canaries' website as it was being updated.

But he admitted he was "upset" the club had contacted police about the incident.

He told the Press Association: "The club said they would contact me first but they didn't, and that upsets me.

"There's been a lot of mentions on Twitter and people agree there has been a big over-reaction.

"I regret what I've done and I'm very apologetic. But I will always love and follow Norwich City."

A statement from Norfolk Constabulary said: "We can confirm we are making inquiries into a reported electronic security breach. A 17-year-old boy is assisting us with our inquiries."

A victimless crime. A bullying organisation bringing the law in because they couldn't keep tighter wraps on a kit launch. Embarrassing for Norwich this one. Secrets leak all the time, there are people who make careers out of it.

Hopefully the lad does not get the wrath of Delia. She has previous! "Cum' on...Where are you? Let's hear you!" However petty, he is 17 and should know right from wrong and should be held accountable for his actions. Shame his parents did not have a tighter grip on him, since they failed. Now society has to step in and pick up the pieces and the cost - to protect the profit of a private concern. All seems strange in general.

They were stupid enough to put the details in the public domain.
How dare they treat the lad this way
and
call the Police.
Is that what hey are there for? Takes 3 days to get them to call for a burglary.
The least they can do is give the lad a free season ticket for the whole of this year.
Breaking news? I don't think so.

As if what Norwich footballers wear is important.
This year, next year,any year.
& it is of no importance whatsoever.

I think a full scale investigation should be launched immediately as to how this kid managed to do this, probably including a trip to some exotic islands for the police to recover from being involved in such a heinous crime! Nice to know that rapists, robbers and murderers were given less priority.....on the flip side, I hope the football club pays the bill for this farcical waste of time!!

it's a rubbish football strip... hardly the stuff of the official secrets act.

If anyone does press charge,s I'm quite frankly annoyed they'd want to waste our tax £££'s. They'd probably prosecute on a law meant for terrorists!

Surely the police must make a judgement call before acting. They can't be this stupid, they can't...

They are only shirts and shorts for goodness sake!

That's it Norwich police - p**s away another load of taxpayers money chasing down a harmless fool.

Time they tightened up security on their website!

Norwich are acting in a pathetic manner here, if the pictures were on the internet they were available for all to see, leave the kid alone, hardly a life threatening leak was it. If they hadn't wanted anyone to see the Kit they shouldn't have posted the pictures

Well said......... How pathetic.

19:15 on 19/04/2012

Get over yourselves! Hardly a state secret...if people are going to buy them they'll buy them no matter where the pics are first shown!
