Kung Fu Hamster! Furious Rodent Attacks Dog-Walker And Hounds

Huffington Post UK  |  By Posted: 25/04/2012 17:41 Updated: 3/05/2012 15:43

Flying through the air, his teeth bared, this hamster is one feisty customer.

The rogue rodent was caught leaping into the frame after executing an ambush on an unsuspecting dog-walker and her canine companions.

The attack occurred in Hradok, Slovakia, and frightened Marta Domotorova and her hounds out of their collective wits.

SEE ALSO:

The furry-fury exploded out of the grass, aiming itself directly at the innocent party.

Domotorova told The Mirror: “Bona started barking and Meggie wanted to sniff it.

"I guess it got pretty scared although both dogs are harmless and just wanted to play.

"But then they got pretty scared when it started its kung fu chops."

Experts say the firey furball is likely to be an escaped domestic pet. With a thing about Bruce Lee movies, presumably.

one of my cats is 8 years old now but when a friend gave him to us as a really teeny tiny kitten he was mean. but only cause he' d had a rough life. he used to bite scratch and pounce and if he saw bare feet he would jump on them with all the fury of an uncaged tiger. and if you touched his tummy oh boy were you asking for trouble,.! did'nt help that he kept rolling over on his back purring and i kept falling for it.. ...

It's a native species of European wild hamster, highly endangered.

If you look very closely at the photo of it in the grass, you can see a baby beside her, hence her aggression.

Lady needed to take her dogs and leave. Shame on her for letting them "play" with it.

We see it as cute however it's probably petrified and defending its young or its nest. Just leave it alone already.

Whoa, whoa, hold your flying horses. Just because it's cute doesn't mean he isn't terrified. If you read the underlying (tabloid) article, you'll see that this isn't the so-called photobomb that's portrayed in this translation of it. The dogs were playing with the hamster before it became aggressive. She should have called her dogs off and let the hamster alone. Media promotion of cruelty to animals (however astoundingly adorable) is both exploitative and encouraging of it. Don't forget there were respectable publications that got caught up in the chupacabra frenzy just a couple of years ago, and it wasn't long before proud parents were sending in photos and video of their tweenager's first ruthless killings of the unarguably ugly but completely non-supernatural Mexican hairless dogs that the media had unfortunately latched onto as the obviously mythological monsters terrorizing the imaginations of boy scout camp-outs for how long? We have to be careful that cruelty to animals doesn't become an inadvertent internet meme just because they're so lucratively click-able. Granted, one raging hamster is one, thing, but a habit of promoting harassed animals as spontaneous photobombs starts to become an ethical consideration.

Great photos, particularly #19 (creepy yet endearing, like your cousin who only watches Fox and MMA), but ditch the photoshop.
