Alex Reid School Lunches
Alex Reid has appeared in Parliament to voice his concerns over packed lunches

Alex Reid, former hubby of glamour model Katie Price, has been throwing his weight about by telling MPs to ban school packed lunches.

The fame-hungry reality TV star made his first foray into the political sphere and told Parliament, and anyone else who would listen, he thinks children shouldn't eat chocolate and crisps.

And why? Because Reid says these foods are - shock horror - unhealthy.

Reid's groundbreaking idea is based on the theory that bad food "affects children's ability to concentrate in lessons". Something we definitely haven't heard before...

The former cage fighter flexed his muscles at an all-party group on school food. He told MPs he "wanted to make healthy school meals available to all kids" through his Let's Do Lunch campaign.

"We will essentially make them compulsory and ban packed lunches."

Reid divorced Price, also known as Jordan, last month. His former wife had previously blamed Reid's "desire to promote himself" for their breakup.

Reid, now expecting a baby with former Big Brother contestant Chantelle Houghton, wants to raise £1billion by offering companies promotional opportunities, including direct marketing to parents, in return for investment in his scheme.

Jamie Oliver, watch out.

Alex darling, I met you many years ago, you weren't exactly ahem 'bright' but a determined man who wished to become an actor despite having little acting ability. You were also somewhat 'prettier' then but this lady wasn't for turning ;) You also admired my athletic physique and saw how I provided excellent, nutritious and delicious meals for my daughter. Her school at the time provided utter rubbish for meals hence why I'd personally prepare and pack her lunch with much healthier, tasty alternatives.

Whilst I agree with your (and Jamie's and others') stance about eating healthily and that schools should indeed provide much better lunches, be careful not to tarnish all parents with the same proverbial brush, including the Mothers (and Fathers) who are wholly capable of ensuring their children eat nutritious meals without your little publicity seeking diatribes. Thanks darling.

Shame he didn't say anything about banning cage fighting, a far more unhealthy thing that sadly young children are being encouraged to take part in. While he's talking, why not ask for a media ban on every pointless "celebrity", that would make the internet a lot healthier.

That idiot and the word "parliament" should NEVER grace the same sentence.

I'd rather ban reality TV.

But I'd actually ban neither because it's none of my business what other people want to do.

We might mock, but at least he's doing something with himself and his 'sort of' fame.
