It's not something you see everyday.

A woman takes to the stage suspended in the air from hooks attached to her piercings in her back, covered in white body paint, blood pouring down her back.

Yards away, men dressed in spandex and masks wait backstage for the South American Wrestling Championship.

These are just some of the sights on show at the Virada Cultural festival in Brazil, a 24 hour cultural marathon exhibiting music art, theatre and fancy dress.

The festival, which ran from 5-6 May also featured a man suspended mid-air playing the piano, and performances from poetry troops.
