Why not just wait until they have the facts and report on the officer shooting himself instead of a convoluted article implying it?

..

Wait...what?

No explaination?

No suspect? Self-destruction? Accident?

The meat of the story is missing.

Read the script. If the DPS have been informed it is either an accident or possible negligence.

I have total respect for the police, they do a very good job. But we have all seen that they they do not have a good record with guns. They have killed more inosent people than they have criminals. A serving police officer said when I asked his view on firearms in the police force he replied " you can not arm a disorganised police force" his words not mine.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty so perhaps everyone they have killed was innocent. You not have to be guilty of a crime to shot. The officer just had to believe the force is absolutely nessesary to protect his or the life of another.

Thats not strictly accurate? In Devon and Cornwall ALL unmarked BMW police cars and some marked BMWs carry side arms. They are often seen standing on dual carriageways directing traffic at RTAs and you can clearly see there 9mm Automatic weapons along with Tazers which have a yellow marker on them. They also carry 4 spare loaded magazines. It is thought that upto 40% of British Police now carry Firearms and over 70% trained to use them.

methinks you are in dreamland...the police have enough so called powers without giving them more in the way of giving them guns. we already are on the brink of a military state, and the public have no weapons to fight off a corrupt government, police or military

Do British police carry guns now?
07:08 AM on 05/15/2012
Armed Response do, as do Airport Security, as a general rule Police officers are not carrying weapons on their normal day to day duties, although some carry Tazer.

Visit Salisbury. Police on standby to support the Protectioin Squad are regularly seen on duty carrying weapons unconcealed.

Many have done since the eighties when we were fighting the IRA. Now that we have homegrown muslim terrorists, I imagine many more having access to guns.

O boy this goes to show no one is safe with a gun.
