Now Chris has come forward to thank Cheryl for her support.

During a recent radio interview, Cheryl said: "I think it's really kind of Rihanna actually [to forgive him]. She's come out and publicly forgiven him really.

"I think it's about time we all did if I'm completely honest, if you want my opinion... I think it's time we all moved on. That guy is talented as hell," she added.

Taking to his Twitter page, Chris - who was convicted of assaulting Rihanna after the Grammys in 2009 - thanked Cheryl for her support.

"@cherylcole thanks for the support and believing in me as an artist!" he tweeted.

Cheryl was chatting to former Blur guitarist Alex James on his In:Demand radio show, and also spoke of how she wished more people could learn to forgive and forget.

"I work with people all the time with my charity that are transformed characters," she said.

"They've done things when they were young that they regret, they've been to prison and they're now upstanding members of the public and help our community and are amazing people."

How can people comment on whether or not he has shown remorse? Not everything he says is reported publicly. If Rihanna has forgiven him, she obviously has her reasons and it is not for other people to tell her she is wrong.

That's disgusting. The fact you can hope for such events means perhaps you shouldn't be allowed to integrate in our society.

I`m all for people starting over, moving forward, but he`s never shown any public remorse and he`s acting like the people who think badly of him for battering a woman are the problem. He did it then he should own it and stop whinning about people who have a problem with what he did.

The man has shown time and again that he is not remorseful for what he did. No rational person should forgive someone like that; someone who commits a heinous act, then fails to show remorse for it, lashing out at those who bring it up, and showing arrogant disdain for anyone who points out the obvious; that is was profoundly wrong.

I hope she will be able to say "move on" for every male that beat up women or vice versa going into the future.
And for those on the link who support, i hope your thoughts also goes out to the numerous spouse and partners abusers out there.

Oh he is talented? Okay no problem then! Actually Chris, why don't you come round and beat up my grandparents some time?

Honestly, I hope she doesn't receive too much flack for this statement. Amazingly, it's still a really touchy subject for people. I agree with her that people should just move on, they both seem to have moved on from the incident, very well I might add.

Chris Brown assaulted someone so badly they had to go to hospital.

In what reality would that person, who had been so badly injured that they required professional medical attention, be required to fogrive the person who attacked them? Oh she was his girlfriend at the time? and they're both famous? Oh, well then. That clearly changes everything.

I'm sorry, is this in response to my comment?
