Chilly Encounter For Boy, 7, After He Gets Stuck In A Fridge

A seven year-old boy had a chilly encounter after playing hide and seek - in a fridge.

James Hunt had to be rescued by six firemen after he was trapped inside a drinks fridge for an hour.

James had clambered into the can-shaped cooler, which opens from the top, as he played with brothers Ethan, nine, and Charlie, four, at their home in Failsworth, Greater Manchester.

Thankfully, he was unharmed and promised his rescuers he wouldn't do it again.

And fortunately, his mum, Lynsey, 31, saw the funny side, saying James was 'a typical boy'.

"Charlie came in to get me and said James was stuck in the fridge," she said.

"I couldn't stop laughing because I thought he was joking. Then I went to see and realised he really couldn't get out.

"James had got in the fridge with his legs crossed, then his knees became locked against the side.

"We turned the fridge on its side, pushed and pulled and even poured warm soapy water over him but nothing worked.

"After about an hour I decided the only thing I could do was ring the fire brigade."

Firefighters put the fridge on its side and placed pillows under James' head. One of the crew then sat on top of the cooler to hold it down while the rest pulled him free.

Lynsey had been storing the fridge at home for her parents but is now going to get rid of it.
