Four-Year-Old Girl 'Critical' After Theme Park Fall

A four-year-old girl remains in a critical condition in hospital after falling from a bridge while visiting a theme park.

Jessica Blake from the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, suffered a fractured skull, a bleed on the brain and broken ribs, when she fell around 14ft from the Tomb Blaster ride queue at Chessington World of Adventure in Surrey on Thursday afternoon.

She is being treated at St George's Hospital, south London, and her family are at her side.

A family member described the youngster's condition on Facebook today as critical.

A spokesman for Chessington told the BBC that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) had been informed and its own internal investigation was taking place.

Initial inspections are focused on a fence panel that lines the ride's queue, he said.

A spokesman for the resort said: "The resort's fully-trained medical staff were on site immediately and administered direct care to the child until ambulance teams arrived.

"She was then taken to hospital in a conscious state.

"Until all investigations have concluded we are not in a position to comment further.

According to the HSE, the park has up to 10 days to inform the executive of a non-fatal accident.

The Metropolitan Police said it was aware of the incident but the force was not investigating and it was a matter for the HSE.
