Is there anything Benedict Cumberbatch can't do? The star of Sherlock and JJ Abrams' forthcoming Star Trek sequel has reportedly voiced a character in long-running hit US cartoon The Simpsons.
"I heard there was a part going in an episode," he told InStyle magazine.
"I said, 'I hate to muscle in here guys but could I record it?'
"Next thing, I'm standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa."
The news comes the same day as Cumberbatch is recognised as number two, second only to Dynamo, in Broadcast magazine's annual survey of the top 100 most creative and successful British figures from the worlds of TV and film.
Talking of creative... here is our collection of Otters Who Look Like Benedict Cumberbatch - naturally (1,600 Facebook shares and counting...)
Although it might seem Cumberbatch is spending all his time in Hollywood at the moment (he's also filming two parts in Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit) he is currently back in Britain and will be performing a reading from John Osbourne's Look Back in Anger on Friday at the Duke of York's Theatre in London.
He's also just finished filming World War One BBC/HBO mini-series Parade's End, which will be on TV in August.
