OLYMPICS: Is Brand Doing A Sex Pistols' Special?

Russell Brand is rumoured to be making an appearance at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.

The 37-year-old funnyman could be singing a rendition of The Sex Pistols' 1977 hit Pretty Vacant with British comedians Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, claimed the Daily Mirror.

Russell - who shows off his vocal talents in Adam Shankman's big-screen musical Rock Of Ages, in which he stars alongside Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin - is also rumoured to be performing the classic Beatles number, I Am The Walrus.

Take That, One Direction, Madness, Pet Shop Boys, Queen, Ed Sheeran, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, The Clash, Tinie Tempah, George Michael, Emeli Sande and Jessie J could also be performing at the star-studded ceremony on August 12, while Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Georgia Jagger will strut down the catwalk to feature in a model's parade.

None of the details have been confirmed yet, but the ceremony's creative director Kim Gavin said: "It will be an elegant mash-up of British music. We want to create a fabulous, emotional experience, something people remember for years to come."

Ballerina Darcey Bussell is said to be dancing to the extinguishing of the Olympic flame, before The Who take to the stage for the firework-filled grand finale.
