We've gone Gaga over the star's cover for US Vogue, which she shared a preview of on Twitter.

Rocking the mermaid chic look in a purple fishtail gown and huge blonde afro, she has managed to look suitably elegant while still cool. We'd hate her if we didn't love her so much!

The cover was shot by fashion photographers Mert & Marcus and the singer seems pretty chuffed with the outcome.

"AHHH! The Vogue Express dropped off the SEPTEMBER ISSUE yesterday morning. IM A COVER GIRL, and ITS FAB! Can't wait to show u tonight!" she tweeted.

We bet her Little Monster followers - all 28,000,000 of them - were as delighted as we were to get a glimpse of the stunning image, which graces the cover of the September issue.

It's definitely a welcome alternative to that infamous meat dress and telephone head gear that's for sure.

She'd better get used to wearing the posh frocks, the Born This Way singer has been spotted in wedding dress shops and sparked rumours that she is getting married.

Gaga's not the only star to rock the mermaid look of late, with a string of our favourite celeb ladies channeling the underwater look, including Tulisa and Cheryl Cole.

Forgive us, but we can't help but ask...
