A US actress has inadvertedly raised her profile by accidentally tweeting a nude picture of herself.
Alison Pill, who appears in HBO's The Newsroom, posted a snap of herself lying on a bed, wearing nothing but a pair of specs.
Gawker wondered if Pill was perhaps trying to send the message to a more private audience -- namely her fiance, actor Jay Baruchel.
Pill quickly deleted the photo, but was but had the grace to come clean about her slip-up:

It's not the first time naked celebrities have "accidentally" found themselves plastered across the Internet.
Former 90210 actress Tori Spelling was left red-faced after her husband Dean McDermott, posted a photo of the couple's son without realising his topless wife could be seen in the background.
In January, "90210" actress AnnaLynne McCord mistakenly tweeted a topless photo of herself to a random fan.
Now that's just careless.
