Incredible first-person footage has been released showing a US soldier in a recent firefight in Afghanistan.
With his chest heaving and bullets hitting the ground all around him, the unnamed soldier intentionally gives away his position to draw fire away from the rest of his unit, which is pinned down.
His frantic and profanity strewn dash is answered by the crack of machine gun fire as insurgents zero in on his position.
Bullets, one of which blasts the gun from his hands, repeatedly hit the soldier. Fortunately, the rest hit his helmet and body armour and he was able to walk away from the firefight with no major injuries.
The footage is being released as part of a series of shorts aimed at highlighting the difficulties faced by combat personnel fighting in Afghanistan.
