Botham Takes Swipe At Broad After Test Defeat

Sir Ian Botham has taken a swipe at England bowler Stuart Broad on Twitter following the first Test defeat in Ahmedabad.

Broad complained about "too many ex playing 'experts' being negative" in their analysis of a match in which India won by nine wickets. England have not won a Test series in India since 1985-85.

And Botham, who is commentating on the series for Sky Sports, swiftly shot back boasting of his average against the subcontinent side.

He hit 114 in the Golden Jubilee Test in Mumbai in 1980 and averaged 55 as England lost the six-Test series 1-0 in 1981/82.

Broad later diffused the exchange and mocked suggestions the pair had an online spat. He hailed Botham as the "best bowler England have ever had".

The Nottinghamshire seamer failed to take a single wicket on a dry pitch during the match and is a possible candidate to be dropped in favour of Monty Panesar.
