I think thats a fan misperception. Sony's console sales have always been more impressive in their later years than the early days and the investment and promotion is huge. PS3 ran at a huge loss and they are only just starting to see a decent return...For example the PSP is outperforming the Vita hand over fist and years years of suffering the PSP is now making up for lost time. The other more important Question is what is the list so far for launch window and first year releases for the PS4 or 720. Are they willing to repeat the bad press the WiiU has endured for a lack of games? Dev kits only went out last summer and only to a few people many people ready to make games for wither new console still haven;t got started and these days it takes a good 2-4 years to make a AAA title.
