Carlos Tevez Avoids Jail

Manchester City star Carlos Tevez has been sentenced to 250 hours of community service for driving offences.

The Argentine striker was also handed a six-month driving ban and a £1,000 fine after pleading guilty at Macclesfield Magistrates' Court to driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Tévez earns a reported £200,000 a week

He had faced a potential jail term for the string of offences.

But the magistrates' verdict means the 29-year-old is free to face rivals Manchester United in the league derby as well as Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final the following weekend.
