Fidel Castro Makes Rare Public Appearance In Cuba (PICTURES)

LOOK: Fidel Castro Makes Rare Public Appearance

Cuba's state newspaper Granma has released new pictures of the ailing former Cuban president, Fidel Castro.

Castro, now 86, has made few public appearances since retiring due to ill health.

Authorities have since been secretive about his condition aware of how the country's reputation hinges on the status of its figurehead.

Rumours circulated last year that he had suffered a stroke but if they were true he appears to have made a relatively good recovery.

Castro was attending the inauguration ceremony of the Vilma Espin Guillois school in the capital Havana.
