Student Blog Of The Week: Louise Murphy And Her 'This Book Is Reserved' Blog

Student Blog Of The Week

Introducing...

Louise Murphy and her 'This Book Is Reserved' blog

Age: 22

Education: University of York - English and Philosophy

What's your blog all about?

My blog is a literary lifestyle blog: which means that I have a mixture of book reviews, quotations, poems, recipes, and sometimes a day out. I have guest bloggers sharing their favourite book - which makes a nice change from a review as they're always written with such passion and energy; but it does nothing for my already quite long 'To-Read' list...

Describe your blog in three words

Books, poems, photographs

Why did you start your blog?

I started the blog because I was terrible at remembering which books I had / hadn't read. I'm book crazy and really wanted to write about my passion.

How long have you been running it?

I've been running it for about 2 or 3 years now.

What makes it different from the rest?

I think it's quite a unique combination; I think it's more personal than just another book review site, and I think it's a great resource for someone who, like me, loves to read AND cook!

Who would be your dream guest blogger?

I would love Caitlin Moran to guest blog. Caitlin - if you're reading, get in touch...

What was your last blog post about?

My last post was about the book The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien; which was actually a guest post from a blogger in Chicago sharing her favourite book.

What's been your "blog highlight"?

I'm most proud of my response to the 'Book Bloggers' debate in The Guardian last year; when the head of the Booker Prize committee accused book bloggers of threatening the future of literature by 'drowning out serious criticism'. It was wonderful to get so much response from my fellow bloggers and readers alike to know that they also disagreed with his remarks!
