Penketh High School Head Teacher Does Psy's Gangnam Style Dance Video

Head Does Gangnam Style

A head teacher has given his pupils the ultimate reward for working hard by doing one of those "so cringe I can't stop watching" performances and Gangnam-styled his way to YouTube success.

Jeff Hughes, head of Penketh High School in Warrington, Cheshire, shook off his suit and donned sunnies, the infamous "oppa" horse lasso move and, armed with some female teachers, recreated the South Korean's chart topper. Last December, the school leader promised his Year 11s he'd perform the dance if they hit all their targets.

"Well, Year 11, you've worked incredibly hard," he says at the beginning of the video. "With your hard work this year we know we'll have one of our best years for results."

At one point, Hughes even appears in a sauna with a half naked man (ooh er). Complete with fake fire, a Mercedes Benz and bizarrely (but amusingly), a pedalo.

Hughes says he has been "astonished" by the reaction to the video, which has had more than 100,000 views.

"This has been a fantastic year for the school," he said. "Thanks to the hard work of the staff and students, we are now amongst the top 10% of improving schools in the country and this will be our best ever year in terms of exam results. I promised the students that if they hit all of their targets I would dance Gangnam Style and here we are!

“I have been astonished by the reaction to the film, never in a million years did I expect so much attention! It is fantastic for the school and it’s a great memory for me on a personal level too."

You've got to hand it to them, Hughes and his 50 fellow teachers have really gone all out. Not a man to have as a head teacher, we say.
