An elderly man has died after being hit by a runaway police van.
Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in Pudsey Park, between Bradford and Leeds, in west Yorkshire, shortly after 2pm yesterday.
Police left the van to deal with the disturbance when the vehicle rolled into the path of an elderly man, who was walking through the park.
The man died following the collision.
The Mail on Sunday claimed the man had been buying ice creams in the park, and reported that the van's handbrake bad been left off.
A police spokesman said the matter has been referred to the police watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
