Is The Top Knot About To Make Its Return?

When Lanvin introduced its nest-like top knots for Spring/Summer 2010, the classic updo became the favourite style on the red carpet and the catwalk. However, as braided and side-swept hair has recently topped the trend charts, the simple bun has been less prominent on the runway.

So - fans of the two-minute do will be pleased to hear this news: the top knot has made a return to New York Fashion Week. Hurrah!

These models were snapped backstage at Ivana Helsinki's A/W 2013 show with the ultimate glossy doughnut styles. Worn with a matte red lip, this duo looked amazing, even if their hair did look like it might hurt.

And the updo wasn't only seen on the girls. Menswear designer Elliott Evan sent his male models down the runway with messy, scrunched up knots. A keeper? Perhaps it's not one for the boyfriend, but it anything goes at fashion week. (Hence the strange white paint on this man's face).
