1960s Fashion: Stripes, Beehives &Amp; Bowie

From Brigitte Bardot's beehive to Mary Quant's geometric prints, signature styles from the 1960s have played a crucial part in influencing fashion as we know it today.

Thanks to Marc Jacobs, the 60s trend is well and truly back for Spring/Summer 2013. At both the Louis Vuitton and at his own S/S 13 show, bold colour palettes, short hemlines and strong prints - namely stripes and checks in monochrome - were prevalent, with a particular focus on linear lines and symmetry on the Vuitton catwalk.

And while the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Jane Birkin will always remain two of the decade's greatest style icons, the V&A museum is currently paying tribute to another big star of the decade with its David Bowie retrospective.
