United Players Bring Christmas Cheer To Poorly Children (PICTURES)

Manchester United players paid their annual visit to local hospitals on Thursday.

However cynical football has become, clubs continue to visit hospitals at Christmas time in an attempt to bring some cheer to poorly children.

United players made trips to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and The Christie a day after their Capital One Cup quarter-final win at Stoke.

Darren Fletcher, back in the first-team after nearly a year out through illness, said it was a "great honour" to visit unwell kids.

"We wanted to do what we could to help the children feel a bit better – no-one wants to be in hospital at Christmas," Fletcher said.

"It's a great honour for us to be able to come and visit them and bring them some presents."
