Yes, here was the Piano Man himself performing at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto last week - and forgetting the words to his own number one hit. Ah, the hazards of list songs.
That said, Joel handled it perfectly. When he realised his mistake, he stopped the band, admitted to the crowd that it's “one of the worst melodies I ever wrote”, and finished the song.
Class. But then we always knew Billy Joel was a good egg.
