We've all been there, gurning wildly into our own reflections. The selfie has become so popular that smartphones are now being built with the self-facing photos in mind.
The problem with selfies though is in the name: if you're doing nothing but concentrate on your own face, then you're probably not concentrating on anything else, as this unfortunate woman discovered.

In her haste to be immortally captured by her friends she failed to observe almost everything around her, in particular the innocent candle that had been so diligently setting the mood for their gathering.
The resulting incident is not only funny but a stark warning to the rest of us that we're always just one grinning selfie away from having our hair catch fire.
Hopefully she'll look back on this moment as a turning point in her life. A point where actually sharing her physical presence with her friends is socially enough, without ever having to put her body in danger just to let a few other people know as well.
This won't be the end, of course it won't. With phones like the HTC One M8 featuring selfie cameras this is just the beginning, but hopefully this video will go some way to making sure that there's nothing wrong with looking like a idiot, just do it safely.
