'Neighbours' Alumna Eliza Taylor Stars In New Sci-Fi Drama 'The 100'

SCI-FI: Ex-Neighbours Star Takes Place Leading 'The 100'

'Neighbours' alumna Eliza Taylor makes her mark tonight, leading the cast in the brand new sci-fi drama ‘The 100’.

Eliza Taylor plays the lead role of Clark in E4's new sci-fi drama 'The 100'

Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, ‘the 100’ refer to the group of humanity’s lone survivors – a bunch of juvenile delinquents who’ve been living in a spaceship – who are sent back to Earth in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet.

Eliza Taylor plays Clark, in her first lead role since leaving Ramsay Street in 2008.

“She has a crazy journey through the series,” says Eliza. “She’s thrust into a situation, not normal for a seventeen-year-old. She realises she has to lead these people to safety, and she does a good job of it.”

Eliza’s only the latest 'Neighbours' star to make the jump, and cast her net at the US casting executives. How did she know the time was right to leave the safety of the Street?

“I was on it from the age of 14 to 18, it was just before my 18th birthday when I finished,” she remembers. “It was just time to grow and spread my wings, but I don’t think I really realised what I was in for, looking back, because I felt invincible when I first went to meet casting executives, and it’s much harder than I realised.

“Neighbours was a great training ground, but something on this scale is a lot more challenging, and rewarding.”

Eliza’s also been working on political drama ‘The November Man’, where she was cast alongside A-lister Pierce Brosnan, about whom she can’t say enough nice things…

“It was all in a foreign language, I was standing on set feeling a little intimidated, and a man in the distance in a suave suit came running up and gave me a big hug. And it was Pierce Brosnan. And he was so lovely, just a gentleman.”

'The 100' starts tonight at 10pm on E4. Watch the trailer above...
