Rare Noctilucent Clouds Photographed In Britain's Skies (PICTURES)

Dazzling streaks of light lit up the clouds above Britain on Monday night.

The shimmering sights were a rare phenomenon known as noctilucent clouds, which normally form 200,000ft above ground.

According to the Met Office noctilucent clouds are made of ice crystals and usually become visible about the same time as the brightest stars.
