Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge, Has A Great Smile - And Here's The Surgery Women Are Getting To Copy It

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, Miranda Kerr and Cheryl Cole have at least one thing in common - they all have amazing smiles. And, to replicate them, women are investing in a cosmetic procedure called a dimpleplasty. Yes, really.

The surgery has seen a rise in popularity in America, where it usually costs between $1,200 and $2,500.

Speaking to Fox 10 News, New York cosmetic surgeon Dr Amiya Prasad revealed there has been "tremendous interest" in the dimpleplasty. "People like dimples, it's a unique group," he said.

The procedure takes approximately half an hour to perform and doesn't require patients to stay overnight in hospital or much downtime. In fact, Dr Prasad revealed after an incision is made inside the cheek, there is "hardly any swelling or soreness" and no scarring.

Surgeons measure from the corner of the eye to cheek where the natural dimple would be and mark it with a pen before going ahead with the incision.

Dr Prasad added many patients like the effects of the dimpleplasty as it makes patients look like they've lost weight.

Riiiiight - as always, truth is way stranger than fiction.
