Lupita Nyong'o Is Lancome's New Face

It was only a matter of time before Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o landed a contract with a beauty brand.

Lancome has confirmed the 12 Years A Slave star will be its new "ambassadress" and will join the model line-up that currently includes Lily Collins, Julia Roberts and Kate Winslet. Her debut campaign will be revealed in September 2014.

Nyong'o will be the first African woman to front a campaign for the French cosmetics brand - and yes, Lupita is more than happy to take on the role.

"I am truly honoured to join the Maison Lancome, a brand with such a prestigious history and that I have always loved," she said in a statement about the campaign.

"I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman's freedom to be herself."

However, this isn't the first time Lupita has caused a stir on the beauty front. After her Oscars beauty secret was revealed (she was wearing Clarins' Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm on the red carpet), the makeup product sold out in the US.

And that sparkling Prada headband? Suddenly, she made hair accessories cool again.

Looks like Lancome has found the right girl for the job.
