Milan Fashion Week S/S 14 Beauty: Five Trends You Need To Know

Milan Fashion Week S/S 14 Beauty: Five Trends You Need To Know

After some brilliant hair and makeup at the shows in New York and London, Milan Fashion Week had a lot to live up to on the beauty front.

Were the Spring/Summer 2014 beauty looks boring? Not one bit. In fact - with some of the prettiest makeup and craziest hair from fashion month so far - there was a lot to learn from the Milan shows.

Want to stay one step ahead when it comes to the hottest lip colours and hairstyles? Here are five trends to know about:

1. Natural, effortless

Seen in both New York and London, this fresh-faced, naturally beautiful trend was big on the Milan catwalks. Skin was flawless (with just a hint of rose blush on the cheeks), eye makeup was almost non-existent and lips were left a little glossy. Think twice when you grab your eye liner next season - the S/S 14 look is all about restraint.

2. Green eyes

Green eye makeup has been making a comeback for a while now, but there are two new shades to experiment with. Jade eye shadow was smudged around the eyes at Giorgio Armani's show and at Prada, apple green tones were painted across eyelids.

3. Hair accessories will be hot

Never worn flowers in your hair? Next summer is the time to try. At Dolce & Gabbana's S/S 14 show, headbands were adorned with white flowers - the prettiest hair accessory ever? Of course, but if you want to wear something in your hair, it doesn't have to be girly. Look to Moschino for inspiration on how to pull off the ultimate accessory - a big black bow.

4. Muted lip

Fed up with trying to find the right fuchsia shade to make your lips pop? The good news is that you won't have to for much longer. At Missoni, Fendi and Gucci the lip colours were peachy and pale. Subtle but definitely chic.

5. Who cares hair

Aside from the Emporio Armani show (where hair was tightly knotted around pins), there was something nonchalant about the way hair was worn on the catwalks in Milan. No where was this more obvious than at Pucci. Long tresses were swept to the side, partings were all over the place and there was lots of messed-up volume. The kind of style that says 'who cares if my hair looks wild, because I don't'.
