The nude lipstick trend isn't as easy to embrace as you might think. Finding a shade that suits your skin tone is the first problem (there's more than one type of nude.) Then there's getting that balance between statement-making and subtle just right. After all, you want a neutral lipstick that will get you noticed - but looking effortless is also essential.
At Giambattista Valli's Spring/Summer 2014 couture show, strong cat-eye flicks were paired with a matte nude tone on the lips. At Burberry, models wore the brand's honey-toned Trench Kiss Lip Mist inspired by "English rose" beauty.
It's also become an alternative to the classic scarlet shade on the red carpet (just look at Cate Blanchett at the Oscars.)
