Put Down The Hair Straighteners! It's All About Waves

It's no myth that too much straightening damages hair but if you've been struggling to find a reason to put down the ghds, we've found one.

Naturally tousled, wavy hair was a big deal at the Autumn/Winter 2013 shows. Cara Delevingne championed the trend at H&M and loose curls bounced down the catwalks at Rodarte, Diane Von Furstenberg and Emilio Pucci.

Waves are always a favourite on the red carpet, too. Why? It's the kind of style that adds an element of effortless elegance, even if hours have been spent on choosing the outfit. Just look at Duchess Kate - she (er, her hairdresser) is a pro at adding texture and gloss to her long hair.

It's not about looking perfect, either. Loose, slightly roughed up waves are more about movement and volume rather than a flawless finish.

Best of all, this style requires little prep time, but a couple of good products are key.

"Our surf shampoo and conditioner which is infused with sea salt helps to recreate a breezy air texture and sunkissed waves," Bumble & Bumble's Bea Watson told us. "Leave to air dry naturally and once dry spritz with something like our surf spray to create a perfectly undone but refined look."
