The family are expected to move into Anmer Hall on the Queen's private Sandringham estate in the coming months.
Royal aides were granted planning permission for a major development at the Grade II-listed mansion earlier this year, according to a report.
Anmer Hall has been part of the royal estate since 1898 and is a short drive from Sandringham House.
The late Georgian country house was home to the Duke and Duchess of Kent between 1972 and 1990 and will be the Cambridges' second residence.
At the moment, Baby George is being cared for by his parents at the home of Kate's mother and father. Carole and Michael Middleton, in Bucklebury, Berkshire.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that the little lad has been given the nickname Georgie – by his grandfather.
The Prince of Wales told well-wishers at Whitstable Oyster Festival in Kent that George was a 'very good name' but that he would be known as Georgie 'in no time'.
Prince Charles, who attended with the Duchess of Cornwall, was presented with a lemon T-shirt fit for a newborn prince from Shona Corcoran, 38, and her three-year-old daughter Hannah.
"He said, 'Oh, that's fantastic, thank you. I'm sure he'll like to wear that'," said Shona.
