Would You Wear Green Lipstick?

Green makeup is a tricky one. It's not exactly easy to wear but it's a trend that can't be ignored.

Jungle green eye makeup was made instantly wearable when Dior and Kenzo championed the look in their Spring/Summer 2013 shows. Mint nail colours have always been fresh and a dark khaki eye liner is practically a beauty staple. But green lipstick? That's a bit much, isn't it?

Dolce & Gabbana doesn't think so. The brand's new Sicilian Jewels lip and nail collection includes Emeraldo and as the name suggests, it's a dazzler.

The other jewel colours aren't exactly subtle either. The lipstick also comes in amethyst, ruby and topaz.

Dolce & Gabbana's creative advisor Pat McGrath assured us it's all part of the fun of the festive season.

"It is one of the designers' favourites in the collection, especially Stefano's," she told us. "I think because it is so different compared with the other Classic Cream Lipstick shades. There is something about that bright and luminous emerald green which is so dramatic and out of the ordinary - it's so unconventionally Dolce & Gabbana!"

The Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Jewels collection is available at Harrods.
