Year Of The Bobs: The Bowl Cut Is Making A Comeback

Karlie Kloss has been leading the bob trend for seasons and her signature short hairstyle is still one of the hottest hair trends.

However, there's a new bob style to know about. It's blunt, it's choppy and it looks just like a bowl cut. Difficult to wear? Yes - we reckon Karlie might even have trouble pulling this one off.

So - why is the style making a comeback? Blame Karl Lagerfeld. The bowl cut bob was seen at the biggest Spring/Summer 2014 shows.

At Marc Jacobs, blunt cropped wigs were tinted with a flash of neon and at Chanel, we got to see Cara Delevingne, Miranda Kerr and co model black, brunette and blonde wigs that flicked out around their faces. How did they look? Edgy.

Over at Fendi, hairstylist Sam McKnight created fringe-heavy bobs that were tucked under the ears. Yes the long blunt fringes looked super cool but in real life, how would anyone deal with that much hair in the eyes?

The answer to making a bowl cut manageable is getting rid of the fringe. No where did a bob look more chic than on the Burberry catwalk. The fuss-free hair, the white sunglasses and the lavender coat was one of the strongest looks from the S/S 14 shows.

And Karlie? If a bowl cut isn't for you, follow her lead. Her Balmain catwalk hair showed us an alternative example of how to style short hair this season - side-swept and slightly dishevelled. You don't even need a hair brush.
