Women Apparently Spend 10 Days Of The Year Grumpy: Is That It?

A new study reveals that women spend about 10 days of the year in a grump, but when we put the question to our social media users on Twitter and Facebook, a common retort was: Is that all?

Researchers polled 1,000 men and 1,000 women, and found the key triggers for a bad mood were feeling fat, bad weather, worrying about money and being concerned their partners weren't listening.

The sexes didn't agree on the length of stroppiness however - the average woman believes they spend about five hours a week but men think it is closer to eight hours a week.

It doesn't get better with age either - over a third believe it gets worse with age, while 50% of women think they are 'moody a lot'.

Psychotherapist Sally Brown, speaking on behalf of vitamin brand Healthspan, which carried out the survey, said: "Moods are a barometer of our overall wellbeing.

''The research shows both men and women are susceptible to being in a bad mood from time to time, but what is interesting is more how the sexes cope with their moods.

''Women crave 'me time' and men tend to rely on their partners to help lift them out of their moods. The scales are slightly skewed for women though, as female hormones have a big impact on moods.

''Thankfully lifestyle choices, such as making sure you surround yourself with 'happy' people, will work as an antidote and there are often simple ways to help boost our mood as revealed with half of those polled opting for a simple warm bath to lift a mood."

HuffPost UK Lifestyle Facebook user Toni Quandt said "The M25", while Fifi Van Linden Tol said: "Stupid wars, rude people, lying."

Heather Dennis said: "People who treat public spaces like they're own home...burping,picking noses, scratching their bum - the list goes on!" while Lorraine Tolley added: "Inconsiderate driving!"

And here's what our Twitter users cited as guaranteed to get them in a bad mood:

@HuffPoLifestyle when somebody says they will do something eg cook and I end up doing it anyway.
