A Saudi man has reportedly divorced his wife after she refused to acknowledge his WhatsApp messages, instead choosing to chat to her friends and family.
According to The Hindu the man in his 30s decided enough was enough after the WhatsApp update revealed that she had seen the messages but was choosing to ignore them.
“She spent most of her time on the phone to the point that she neglected looking after their home and taking care of their child,” he said.
The man apparently tried to reach a compromise with the woman but was unable to succeed as she claimed she needed to chat to her friends.
While this is certainly an extreme example, the UK itself has seen a significant rise in WhatsApp and social media being the cause of divorce cases with all three being used as evidence in court.
