Perhaps it's our own ignorance around hip hop, but we didn't fancy its stars to be passionate advocates of veganism. Shows how much we know.
Wu Tang's RZA made a video for Peta UK explaining why he went vegan.
“I don’t need a dead animal or dead piece of flesh to go into my live body”, RZA says. “I had animals as friends …. They was happy to see me in their own animal way. I’m quite sure they did not want to be on my plate.”
He adds: "If this cow who is stressed, dumb-founded, sick, and you eat it, you're eating that stress, you're eating that sickness. You're eating that fear."
Turns out RZA isn't the only one either - apparently Russell Simmons and KRS-One who actually rapped about the process of making beef - are advocates too.
