'Total War: Warhammer' Leaked

Nerds Lose Their Minds As 'Total War: Warhammer' Leaks

A new Total War game based on the Warhammer fantasy universe has been (accidentally) announced.

'Total War: Warhammer' (why not just 'Total Warhammer'?) was leaked thanks to a quote in a new, official Total War art book.

The passage was found by a user at the Total War Center website, in which Creative Assembly's Mike Simpson says the studio is "taking the series to a fantasy setting with Total War: Warhammer".

There are no other details about the game - though it's not a total (lol) surprise. Creative signed a deal with Games Workshop back in 2012 to make games based on the Warhammer universe -- which is, put simply, Tolkien with rugby. For fans the prospect of full-scale battles in rich 3D, plus a strategic campaign map mode will be too enticing to pass up. And you won't even have to paint the figures or make scenery out of packing material.

"With this year being our 25th anniversary it seems fitting for us to embark on such a dream project with such a well-established partner," Creative Assembly studio director Tim Heaton said in 2012.

"The incredibly rich and detailed Warhammer world is something we grew up with, and has left an indelible imprint on us as both designers and gamers."

"We'll be doing the Warhammer universe justice in a way that has never been attempted before. We're bringing those 25 years of experience and expertise in extremely high-scoring games to bear, delivering a Warhammer experience that videogamers will absolutely love."
