Major Delays on South West Trains After Man Struck At Raynes Park

Major delays are occurring on South West Trains after a person was hit by a train between Raynes Park and Clapham Junction on Tuesday morning.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Raynes Park railway station on Tuesday, 21 July, to reports of a person struck by a train.

“The call came into police at 6.42am.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious

“Officers from BTP and colleagues from Metropolitan Police Service attended the scene alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, but a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers will now try to establish the man’s identity and prepare a file for the coroner.

“The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”

The incident caused delays of up to 60 minutes to trains to and from London Waterloo via Wimbledon and disruption is estimated to continue until 3.30pm, a statement on the South West Trains website said.

Passengers are being reminded they can use London Underground, Southern, Thameslink, London Buses, First Great Western, CrossCountry and London Overground routes to complete their journeys.
