This BBC presenter got a shock and a half when he was proved wrong by a blue whale live on camera.
Zoologist Mark Carwardine outlined just how hard filming a nature documentary can be.
After spending the whole day searching for the creatures he said: "It's quite exciting in one way and challenging in another. You know they're here - we just jolly well can't find them!"
Seconds later, a giant blue whale appears sprouting water, obviously enjoying its moment of comedic genius.
