The Olympic boxer will be temporarily hanging up his gloves and swapping the boxing ring for the dance-floor, as announced on the show’s official Twitter page, on Friday afternoon.
They joked: “Our ninth celeb to hit the #Strictly dance floor is a knock-out!”
Anthony has revealed that squaring up to Olympic boxers isn’t as daunting to him as facing Craig Revel-Horwood, admitting: “I've faced a lot of tough opposition in the past, but I've never faced anyone as tough as the Strictly judges before!
“My mum is a massive fan of the show so I will be trying my hardest to make her proud.”
It might surprise you to hear that Anthony is no stranger to reality telly, having first come to the public’s attention in ‘Big Brother: Celebrity Highjack’, back in 2008.
Anthony joins the eight celebrities already confirmed to be stepping into their dancing shoes this year, including weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer Peter Andre and ‘EastEnders’ actress Kellie Bright.
With five celebrities still to be revealed, ‘Call The Midwife’ actress Helen George and Gok Wan are among the potential rumoured contestants.
Also tipped to be putting in an appearance are Jamelia, Alan Titchmarsh and Michelle Heaton, who appears to be on something of a one-woman mission to land a spot on the show.
